Services
Retineo lets you:
- study flashcards in rounds with spaced repetition,
- create your own language pairs, decks and flashcards,
- play pronunciation in your browser,
- see your progress and reports,
- download a backup of your study progress,
- publish your own decks for other users and add other people's decks from the catalog.
The service contract is concluded when you confirm your email address. Using Retineo is free of charge.
Technical requirements
- an up-to-date web browser with JavaScript and cookies enabled,
- an internet connection,
- for pronunciation — speech synthesis voices available in the browser or system; the list depends on the device.
Creating and deleting an account
- You create an account with an email address and a password, then confirm the address with the link from the email.
- Your password is confidential; do not share it.
- You can delete your account at any time in “Settings” after entering your password; it is deleted immediately and the contract ends. You can also write to contact@retineo.io — we will delete the account within 14 days.
- The provider may block an account that breaks these terms or the law. It will first ask you by email to stop the infringement, unless it is serious or requires an immediate response. It will tell you about the block and its reason by email; you can appeal at contact@retineo.io, and we will reply within 14 days.
User content
- Your own flashcards and decks are private: only their author sees and changes them until the author publishes a deck.
- Unlawful content is not allowed, in particular content infringing copyright or personal rights, or inciting hatred or violence.
- You are responsible for the content you add and confirm that you have the rights to it.
- You keep the rights to your content. The provider stores and processes it only as needed to provide the service.
Publishing and moderation of user content
- Not allowed: unlawful, offensive, vulgar, discriminatory or advertising content, and content infringing third-party rights.
- Automated assessment. A submitted deck is assessed by a language model and, when in doubt, by the provider. You can appeal a decision in the app — a person then reviews the deck within 14 days.
- Statement of reasons. After each decision you receive information about what was decided and why.
- Reporting content. The point of contact for users and authorities is contact@retineo.io (in Polish or English). You can report illegal or inappropriate content of a published deck in the catalog, through the contact form or at that address — name the deck and explain why the content is illegal or inappropriate. We confirm receipt, handle the report without undue delay and tell the reporter and the deck's author about the decision, with reasons.
- Licence. By publishing a deck, you grant the provider a free, non-exclusive licence, without territorial limits, to make it available to other Retineo users for as long as it is published. When you unpublish it, the deck leaves the catalog; people who added it earlier keep their copies for studying.
Built-in content
Built-in content, illustrations, the app design and Retineo marks were prepared by the provider and are protected by law. You may use them only for your own study in the app.
Liability
- The provider strives to keep the app running without interruptions but does not guarantee continuous availability; maintenance and updates may require downtime.
- Built-in content is meant for learning; despite our care it may contain mistakes — you can report them in the app.
- Towards consumers the provider is liable as mandatory law provides; these terms neither exclude nor limit it. Towards other users, to the extent permitted by law, the provider is not liable for lost profits.
Complaints
Send a complaint to contact@retineo.io or through the contact form. Describe the problem and give your account email address. We will reply within 14 days.
Changes to these terms
We will announce changes at least 14 days before they take effect, in the app or by email. If you do not accept the changes, you can delete your account.
Governing law
Polish law applies. Consumers keep the protection of the mandatory laws of their country of habitual residence. Disputes are settled by the court competent under general rules. Consumers may use out-of-court dispute resolution, for example the help of a municipal or district consumer ombudsman or mediation before the regional Trade Inspection.
